Dear Clubs, further to the vote to restructure Rereational Cricket in the West Midlands as promised we are  providing an update.

The West Midlands League Cricket Forum Working Party has been formed to consider the finer details the re-structure of BDPCL and the associated County Cricket Leagues at the end of the 2018 season met for the first time recently .

The following topics were discussed: -

  1. The placement of clubs whose 3rd and 4th XI’s are, currently playing in the Cotswold Hills League – Dorridge, Kenilworth Wardens, Leamington Spa and Stratford-upon-Avon
  2. Ground & Facilities criteria in all Leagues from the start of the 2019 season
  3. Compilation of fixtures for the 2019 season
  4. Umpiring Policy and Appointments
  5. Player Registration
  6. Disciplinary Regulations and Procedures
  7. League Governance

Sub-groups were formed to discuss each of the above and they will report back to the next meeting of the Working Party which is due to be held on Friday 22nd June.

The immediate priority is to resolve numbers 2 and 3 above and it was agreed that those clubs who are affected will need to make a final decision on their destination by 31st July 2018. Those clubs will be contacted, shortly, by BDPCL or the County Board to which they are affiliated, to discuss their preferences.

The Working Party consists of

County League Representatives (Adam Phillips (SCCL) Kevin Herbert (SCCC) Graham Seal (WCL) Stuart Lampitt (WCL) )

BDPCL (Nick Archer)

ECB (Richard Cox and Ged McDougall)

County Cricket Board Lead Officers (as required)

In observation – Bernard Szypulski (WCL Chair) – Mr Szypulski is attending due to the size of the WCL/the interaction with Cotswold Hills League/League Governance matters.

For further information please contact Kevin Herbert League Administrator or Bill Tranter League Chairman

Along with a number of leagues througlhout the country, including the BDPCL, the Executive of the SCCC has decided that all the fixtures due to be played on Saturday 21st April should be postponed and that the fixtures of Saturday 28th April (Week 2) will now be the start of the league programme. The heavy rains following the "Beast form the East" have made it almost impossible for grounds to be properly prepared and a significant number of clubs have asked us for this  postponement.

Week 1 fixtures will be played later in the season on dates that will be fixed after consultation with all clubs and further details about this will be sent to you at the beginning of next week.
